Project Details

This project should probably have never eventuated as it was to be abandoned by the newly appointed Rudd Labour Government who was elected into office in 2007 but was fortunately saved by a team of dedicated, passionate, patient and astute educators lead by CEO Mark Hands.

Having walked with the AITC for such a long period of time during the Expression of Interest stage, two design and construct tenders and then further delays until Federal Funding was finally granted, Alder Constructions developed a very special bond and rapport with all AITC building committee team members.

The College comprises of two main building being the Administration Wing (499m2 of GFA) and the Classroom Wing (1,265m2 of GFA). Additionally, a mezzanine staff office and amenities level (620m2) was added to the Classroom Wing during the construction period.

The design also incorporates extensive green elements such as solar panels complete with data loggers and energy meters, smart C-Bus system integrated to not only the power and lighting systems but also the mechanical services system to ensure efficient operation at all times, rainwater harvesting tanks for use in flush and irrigation water and a bio-retention basin.

Works commenced on site on 22nd February 2010 and reached Practical Completion on 10th January 2011 ready for the commencement of the 2011 school year, some 5 weeks ahead of our contract schedule.
