Project Details

Following on from Stage 1 works completed in August 2007, the Client engaged Alder Constructions again to construct additional retail tenancies on the Hope Island Central Development.

The overall gross floor area (GFA) of this Stage was just under 2,000m2, as well as significant awning structures, carpark and footpaths.

Alder were actively involved in the design of various components to the Development, which included the awning structures, electrical and carpark works. Alder were able to exceed the Client’s expectations and complete this project 5 weeks ahead of the original 29 week construction program.

Work Undertaken

  • The design included various combinations of tilt-up panels and light weight wall frames with rendered expanded polystyrene cladding
  • Feature tiling and Alutri composite aluminium panelling to various external walls
  • Extensive external tiling
  • Fully fit-out toilet block
  • Loading dock and associated equipment
  • Awning structures to the perimeter of the buildings which consisted of cantilevered structural steel superstructure, metal roof sheeting and Alutri composite aluminium soffits
  • Large standalone awning structures to the carpark
  • Retaining walls
  • Partial fit-out of the IGA supermarket by Alder
  • Co-ordination with IGA’s fit-out trades to enable this supermarket to be completed in conjunction with Alder’s building works, this allowing IGA to open for trade soon after handover of the building
  • Gravel pavement and asphalt carpark
  • Glass bi-fold doors to restaurant tenancies
