Construction at Arcadia College is now complete with the Special Assistance School on track to welcome students to the new campus come 2021.

The $11.4 million private school built by Alder Constructions consists of a three-level, 3,000sqm facility located at Centreline Place adjacent to the Robina train station and Gold Coast Titan’s home stadium.  The college currently operates in Varsity Lakes and provides educational opportunities for students who have faced personal hardship and difficulties.

Alder Constructions general manager Dean Cheffers says the private education facility has successfully fostered an environment specially designed to nurture student creativity, inclusion, and wellbeing.

“It has been a pleasure to play a pivotal role in the construction of a futuristic learning environment such as Arcadia College,” said Mr Cheffers. “This school is unlike any other with progressive learning and recreational facilities that will ensure students are adequately equipped with every possible resource they need to achieve their learning and life goals.  The multi-purpose facility not only includes classrooms for grade seven to 12, specialty learning rooms, and an IT hub but it is also decked out with a host of state-of-the-art facilities selected to ensure students receive the best possible education, care, and professional guidance.”

Designed by award-winning Gold Coast Architects Burling Brown, the facility will increase the school’s capacity from 190 to 300 students with the Varsity Lakes campus closing once the Robina facility opens.

Mr Cheffers says the new facilities will enable the school to successfully provide a progressive and holistic suite of educational experiences.  “The new site for Arcadia College has been created to support and empower our students by offering a school environment that is engaging and future-focused to achieve their goals in both school and in life,” he said

“The new campus is home to a student wellbeing centre complete with a nurse, psychologist and career counsellor plus a youth hub which provides employment, medical, welfare and specialised services including career advice.  All rooms are kitted out with fully-equipped kitchens so students can prepare and share healthy meals in a group setting. The importance of exercise is emphasised with plenty of recreational facilities including an HPE rock climbing wall, multi-purpose basketball court, and exterior playground equipment.”

Arcadia College has added to Alder Constructions’ substantial portfolio of cutting-edge education facilities at leading schools across South East Queensland.

Alder Constructions has delivered many progressive and sector-defining educational projects including A.B. Paterson’s $13 million state-of-the-art learning precinct – The Winton Centre, ‘The Pod’ at Coomera Anglican College, The Southport School Multi-Purpose Hall, and the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) facility at Indooroopilly’s Brigidine College.
