Alder Constructions makes a splash
Alder Constructions recognises the hard work and achievements of the project teams and construction partners who continually strive to deliver outstanding projects for local communities. One such project was the $5.5 million expansion of the Beenleigh Aquatic Centre, which reached completion in February 2019 and a contender in this years’ Master Builders Brisbane Housing and Construction Awards.
Alder Constructions was engaged by Logan City Council as part of the Council’s Active Logan strategy, to transform the Centre into a modern, all-weather facility. General Manager Dean Cheffers says the redevelopment has delivered high quality infrastructure and amenities for the Beenleigh community.
“Built in the mid-1960s the Beenleigh Aquatic Centre was due for major renovations,” he said.
“The improvements include a fully enclosed 20m indoor heated commercial pool, a water play area with a children’s splashpad, plant room building, mechanical plant slab and external features. The community now has year-round heated pool access for programs such as learn to swim, aqua aerobics and water walking, with facilities for people with disabilities, and a shaded water play zone for very buy valium roche online young children.”
Alder Constructions also delivered amenities such as a pool store, baby change area, toilets, shower and change area, disabled changing room powder/family changing room, first aid, office and kiosk. Full length bifold doors allow open access between the indoor pool and the aquatic play area, which has been designed to engage children and stimulate their senses.
“The splashpad is a fun interactive aquatic play area for children. It includes ‘sea themed’ features including bollard activators, cannon sprayers, aquatic animal sprayers, water tunnel, fountain sprays/geysers and jet stream, plus a large 4m tall spraying sea serpent that is cast into the slab,” Mr Cheffers said.
“The splashpad has a bright and vibrant non slip colourcrete finish, with a mixture of blues, purples, yellow and white to further enhance the ‘sea theme.”
