Project Details

This project involved the complete design and construction of a customised asphalt batching plant to replace the existing plant and infrastructure that had been operational on the site for many years.

Work Undertaken

  • Master planning the overall site, with particular attention to improving the logistics on the site
  • Dismantling the existing plant piece by piece for demobilisation from this site and re-erection in the future at another site
  • Co-ordination with the Chinese based asphalt plant supplier during both pre-construction and installation to ensure that all elements complied with the relevant Australian Standards and the overall Plant Design
  • Design and construction of all concrete foundations and plinths for the plant
  • Design and construction of a reinforced earth retaining wall to an average height of 6 metres, utilising large precast concrete blocks
  • Major repair/refurbishment of an existing tall retaining wall
  • Design and installation of the underground electrical services, including new padmount transformer
  • Design and construction of all hydraulic services including Gross Pollutant Trap (GPT)
  • Erection of the main tower, silos and hot storage bins, including complete procurement and co-ordination of local and Chinese personnel, cranage and elevated work platforms
  • Installation of the bitumen and diesel tank farm storage facility including all air, diesel and bitumen pipework
  • Final trim of surrounding area and surfacing works
  • Commissioning of the Plant
