Project Details
Energex’s crews now have improved access to Brisbane’s inner northern suburbs and CBD with the new $11m depot at Stafford completed by Alder Constructions.
The Babarra Street depot will be home to approximately 150 Energex field and support staff allowing them to respond more effectively to emergency outages and network maintenance in Brisbane’s inner north.
With the Stafford depot up and running, it will house 40 response vehicles, with a 2,040 sqm warehouse and 1,290 sqm contemporary office space.
As well as field staff, Energex designers, planners and project managers will work out of the new depot.
Alder Constructions worked collaboratively with Ranbury, PDT Architects, Bellas & Reitano and WSP to deliver the new depot and is excited to continue the journey with Energy Queensland on the new Energex Greenslopes redevelopment project.
Work Undertaken
Some of the key components of this project were:
- Demolition works including Asbestos removal.
- Considerable earthworks including the excavation and remediation of 20,000m² of soils and service diversions.
- Extensive external works include new sewer, water and power connections, along with concrete aprons throughout the site.
- Construction comprised of a ground floor and level 1 office space along with main warehouse.
- High quality architectural finishes throughout.
- Hard standing area incorporating truck wash facility.
- Make good existing car park area, external fencing and landscaping.
- Detailed programme sequencing with delineated work zones.
- Community interface and engagement with neighbouring sporting club.
