As a result of tropical cyclone Debbie, City of Gold Coast identified nineteen landslip sites throughout the Gold Coast region that required significant stabilisation and structural repairs.
Alder Constructions were engaged under a Design and Construct contract with the scope inclusive of gabion wall retaining systems, reinforced concrete pavements, contiguous piled retaining walls, drainage structures, rockfilled embankments and sealed/asphalt pavements. The works were contractually required to be undertaken between November and June throughout the typical wet-season in areas already damaged as a result of wet weather and overland flows.
The works were also performed on narrow, steep and winding roads and involved community liaisons, traffic control, road closures and detailed planning and logistics. All the while maintaining safe work environments and producing a quality product.
