Project Details

Staines Memorial College was established in 2005 and operated out of temporary facilities until the commencement of the 2011 school year following completion of this Stage 1 project.

Alder were engaged by Christian Brethren Schools Limited to undertake the civil works and building works. A significant amount of civil works were required given that the site was completely undeveloped.

Building works included the construction of a three (3) level Science Learning Centre (SLC) that comprised of General Learning Areas (GLAs), Home Economics Room, Biology Lab, Chemistry Lab, Physics Lab, IT Room, Amenities, Covered Outdoor Learning Area and associated works including the construction of a network of concrete footpaths and staircases around the site.

The total GFA of the building was approximately 1,939m2 that included 1,044m2 of buildings, 338m2 of Covered Outdoor Learning Areas (COLAs) and 557m2 of Covered Verandahs.

Alder also undertook other works on the site to assist the school in bringing on line their temporary demountable buildings used during the 2010 school year.

Works commenced early 2010 and were completed and handed over to the school in readiness for the 2011 school year despite the large amount of wet weather experienced during the construction period.

  • Precast concrete blade feature fins
  • Proprietary “Ultra Floor” suspended concrete slab system
  • Combination of face brick, compressed fibre cement and metal cladding to façades
  • Lift
  • The supply and installation of all infrastructure works such as trunk gas, potable and non-potable water, fire, stormwater and sewer main and electrical services
  • Construction of two (2) above ground 150kl steel tanks that formed part of the wet fire system design
  • All civil works including bulk earthworks, retaining walls, large bio-retention basin, asphalt car park and associated works
