Project Details

This project forms part of the greater North Stradbroke Island’s Walking Trail Network which is a regionally significant walking trail link connecting vantage points between Snapper Street lookouts over Frenchman’s Beach.

This connection is a significant link in the Walking Trail Network and constitutes the first stage linking Snapper Street with the Gorge Walk Trailhead. As a popular thoroughfare for the local community and visitors, staging of works was required to minimise disruption to the community during peak school holiday periods.

Alder Constructions actively engaged the local community in the delivery of this project through local subcontractor engagement and local Indigenous workforce.

Scope of Works

Community engagement and sequencing of works to minimise disruption the local community.
Navigating challenging terrain, ground conditions and logistics of a remote location.
Installation of 95 no screw piles and caps.
Construction of roadworks including pavement, kerb and channel, stormwater pits and connections, headwalls, bollards, line marking and signage.
Structures including timber boardwalk and viewing decks and lookouts using Wagners CFT substructure and Modwood decking.
Park furniture including fencing, seat, tap and drinking fountain, waste bin enclosure (including concrete slab), bike rack, fencing and bollards.
Decorative concrete hard surfacing and coloured bitumen footpaths.
Landscaping features including rock/boulder retaining wall, mulch, topsoil, erosion control matting, turf and assorted planting.
Land remediation and removal of unsuitable material.
