The Winton Centre elevates the student experience
Alder Constructions has successfully delivered a brand new $13 million learning precinct at A.B. Paterson College, with construction reaching completion.
The Winton Centre has delivered 4,500sqm of dedicated learning spaces with state-of-the-art design and technology, setting a new benchmark in educational precincts on the Gold Coast.
Alder Constructions General Manager Dean Cheffers says the progressive facility is a showstopper with well-researched education spaces designed to foster a positive environment for modern learning.
“We have entered a whole new era in education, where innovative architecture is redefining the way school children learn,” he said.
“The Winton Centre is a prime example of what it means to put the student experience at the forefront of the design.
“A.B. Paterson collaborated with Burling Brown Architects, Colliers International and Alder Constructions, to design a unique, future proofed facility and the end result is a high quality, inspiring space that the students, teachers and parents can be proud of.”
The three level building has been adorned in the colour palette of the Australian bush, representing A.B. Paterson’s strong heritage, with colourful, vibrant and dynamic learning spaces throughout.
“The first floor features a magical rainforest-themed playground, three Pre-Prep classrooms, an Outside School Hours Care facility, a café and film studio,” Mr Cheffers said.
“The upper levels house a library, flexible learning spaces and 160-seat multi-purpose lecture theatre equipped with retractable seating, acoustics panels, and a fully sprung floor.”
Principal/Chief Executive Officer of A.B. Paterson College Brian Grimes says The Winton Centre has been designed to meet the demands of 21st century education, and is an outstanding addition to the school’s facilities.
“Modern educational spaces must address not only the academic needs of the students but also their innate curiosity and creativity,” he said.
“Innovative architectural design, cutting edge technology, and interactive learning environments are the way of the future and The Winton Centre will set a new standard for schools.
“As one of the finest educational institutions in the country, this new learning precinct provides the physical spaces for us to further develop our leading pedagogy and bring many new opportunities for students and staff alike.”
Alder Construction’s partnership with Burling Brown Architects has seen the delivery of multiple progressive education projects in the past 18 months. Alder Constructions completed construction on the future-focused learning centre known as ‘The Pod’ at Coomera Anglican College in January 2018.
The Southport School Multi-Purpose Hall at the preparatory campus was completed in December 2017, and was one of the most progressive facilities for learning and teaching that TSS Prep had undertaken.
Alder Constructions is currently constructing an $11.75 million Science and Technology facility at Indooroopilly’s Brigidine College. The new building adds to the Gold Coast based company’s growing portfolio of cutting edge education facilities at schools across South East Queensland.
