von Bibra’s fifth Gold Coast auto mall breaks ground
Australia’s largest family-owned dealer, von Bibra Auto Group has celebrated the start of construction at its highly anticipated new auto mall, breaking ground at the Coomera site this week.
Leading construction and development company, Alder is kicking off civil works on the 55,000sqm site, home to von Bibra’s largest development project to date, located on Dreamworld Parkway, just off the M1.
The project will house a state-of-the-art automotive retail facility, which represents the first of three stages of a planned mixed-use development that will ultimately include a commercial and residential development.
Designed by Brisbane-based Wim Architects who designed von Bibra’s Robina Auto Mall, the project will include at least four new car brands anchored by Mazda, along with a pre-owned vehicle showroom.
von Bibra Auto Group Managing Director Wade von Bibra says the new auto mall will have a significant impact on the northern Gold Coast with the business set to employ over 150 locals while delivering more than 3,000 vehicles per year and servicing in excess of 25,000 vehicles in the same time frame.
“The 55,000sqm block will be transformed into a one-stop shop for drivers enabling them to buy a new car, or service and maintain their vehicle just off the M1 at Coomera,” says Wade.
“Not only will the auto mall service the entire northern end of the Gold Coast, the upcoming second and third stage will include residential waterfront townhouses and a combined residential and commercial precinct to meet the rapidly growing demand for housing and services in the area.
“This project is highly anticipated for the booming northern Gold Coast and we are elated to see it under construction.”
Dean Cheffers, CEO of Alder’s construction division, says Alder is looking forward to getting underway at the site with civil works including clearing, earthworks, services reticulation, internal roadworks, and an external roadworks upgrade to the value of $5.3 million set to take place.
“While Alder’s geographical footprint has expanded exponentially in the past few years with projects taking off along the east coast as far north as Airlie Beach and into NSW it is refreshing to be working on such a monumental development so close to our home base at Helensvale,” says Mr Cheffers.
“With this development marking the fifth auto mall for the von Bibra Auto Group we are excited to be working with this evolving company to see this expansive project take shape and develop into what is set to be a well utilised service for the northern suburbs and beyond.”
In addition to this development, Alder is currently completing a $2.6 million refurbishment project at von Bibra’s Ashmore Auto Group which utilises Alder’s extensive building capacities to upgrade the Nissan Showroom and the Nissan Service Book-in Area.
While stage one of the project is expected to be complete by late 2025, the project in its entirety is expected to be delivered over the next four to five years and be complete come 2029.
