Project Details

Energex’s crews now have improved access to Brisbane’s inner northern suburbs and CBD with the new depot at Stafford completed.

The Babarra Street depot is home to over 150 Energex field and support staff allowing them to respond more effectively to emergency outages and network maintenance in Brisbane’s inner north. With the Stafford depot up and running, it houses 40 response vehicles, with a 2,040m² warehouse and 1,290m² contemporary office space.
Alder Constructions worked collaboratively with Ranbury, PDT Architects, Bellas & Reitano and WSP to deliver the new depot and has continued the journey with Energy Queensland on the new Energex Greenslopes redevelopment project.

Scope of Works

  • Demolition works including Asbestos removal.
  • Bulk earthworks including the excavation and remediation of 20,000m² of soils and service diversions.
  • Construction comprised of a ground floor and level 1 office space along with main warehouse.
  • High quality architectural finishes throughout.
  • 100kw solar system installation.
  • Hard standing area incorporating truck wash facility. The concrete structure incorporated significant suspended slabs to allow large vehicle thoroughfare. Extensive external works package include new sewer, water and power connections, along with concrete aprons throughout the site.
  • Detailed programme sequencing with delineated work zones.
  • Community interface and engagement with neighbouring sporting club.
