Alder’s Asset Renewal division was quick to respond with local teams in the wake of Tropical Cyclone Alfred, which left a trail of destruction along the east coast.

Gale-force winds and flooding wreaked havoc on the Gold Coast seeing significant damage to numerous city landmarks, including the dome that sits atop The Moroccan on Elkhorn avenue at Surfers Paradise.

General Manager of Asset Renewal, Shane Pelczer said the structure that crowned the building was destroyed by the strong winds, requiring urgent remediation.

“Alder was contacted to assist as an emergency response team, to devise and execute a safe plan to remove the damaged dome on View Tower caused by Cyclone Alfred,” Mr Pelczer said.

“The team successfully removed all of the materials from the top of the building by means of cutting the structure into manageable pieces and carting them down through the internal lifts. The work was completed promptly, and we continue to work with the building manager and key personnel at The Moroccan to restore other elements of the structure.

“There is significant damage to buildings and infrastructure right across the city and we have our dedicated Asset Renewal team prepared, ready and able to assist with remediation works where required.”

Alder’s Asset Renewal division is a standalone division created in 2024 in response to the significant growth and demand of the company’s remedial services. The Asset Renewal division focuses on working with existing building structures to ensure they conform to current building standards.

The new division has successfully completed projects all over the Gold Coast, including Peppers Soul façade painting project which included a complete building audit and repaint, cladding replacement at Tower 1 Reflection on the Sea and the Xanadu Main Beach Resort podium refurbishment.
